Each month, we profile a Connecticut manufacturer, showcasing the ingenuity and innovation driving the state’s economy. For October, we spoke with officials at Bausch+Stroebel in Branford, a subsidiary of Bausch+Ströbel in Germany.

The U.S. presence of Bausch+Stroebel was established in 1983 in Clinton, Connecticut.

The company has 60 employees in the U.S., and 2,500 worldwide.

Bausch+Stroebel is a trusted and experienced supplier to the pharmaceutical industry specializing in filling and packaging systems. Our customers include Regeneron, Roche, Merck, Pfizer, Boehringer, Thermo-Fisher, and Medtronic to name just a few.

Our filling and packaging lines are used worldwide to fill syringes, vials, cartridges, and ampoules with high-grade liquid and powder pharmaceutical products.

Applications range from cleaning and sterilization to labeling and syringe assembly.

In addition to designing and building systems tailored to customer specifications, Bausch+Stroebel provides a wide range of specialized services aimed at ensuring system reliability and productivity.

From modest beginnings more than 50 years ago, with a staff of only four, Bausch+Stroebel has developed into an international enterprise.

It is now one of the leading manufacturers in pharmaceutical packaging equipment.

We are striving to create optimal solutions for our customers.

To achieve this aim, we are continually making innovations to improve products and processes.

Bausch+Stroebel is one of a handful of companies providing machines and solutions to the pharmaceutical industry at the highest level.

We strive to be the global market leader in our category through our 50 plus years of experience, dedication to quality, and the goal to be a reliable partner for pharmaceutical production.

Bausch+Stroebel Machine Company U.S. was founded in September, 1983 in Clinton, Connecticut.

Connecticut was chosen at that time because of its proximity to the New York airport and its skilled metalworker potential.

Neither of these conditions have changed to this day.

Access to a high-quality workforce, proximity to major international airports and ports, as well as vicinity to the German headquarters in the eastern time zone.

We are expanding the scope of our operations here in the U.S. to include packaging machine assembly.

We will be starting apprenticeship and training programs to further develop talent specific to our needs.

Bausch+Stroebel expects to add another 50 to 100 employees over the next five to 10 years, possibly expanding our manufacturing facility as well.

Keeping Bausch+Stroebel competitive in the U.S. would include initiatives like attracting top manufacturing talent, along with what’s needed for them to want to remain in Connecticut, such as affordable housing, education opportunities, and affordable cost of living.
